Horse Gait

All horses have four BASIC gaits.

They are called: walk, trot, canter, and gallop (in western terms: walk, jog, lope, and gallop)

WALK:

The Pattern:
outside hind
outside fore
inside hind
inside fore

 

TROT: (jog)

Diagonals falling.

So it would be:
outside hind and inside fore
inside hind and outside for

CANTER: (lope)

The pattern is:
inside hind
outside hind and inside fore
outside fore

 

GALLOP:

my friend once told me the gallop is a really bumpy gait.

never rode it before…

The pattern is:

outside hind
inside hind
outside fore
inside fore
